If you rely on your watch too much, it will take all the fun out of a run. When you’re always comparing how fast or slow your daily runs are, you will eventually run yourself into the ground.” Here are some fun ideas:
• Run for time rather than distance.
The advantage to running for time is that you can go at your own pace. If you don’t know how far you’ve gone, then you don’t know how fast you’re actually running. This is especially beneficial for easy days because it allows your body to recover.
• Don’t let others influence your pace, especially social media.
Everyone runs for different reasons. What works for someone else won’t necessarily work for you and could lead to burn out or injury. Go out and run for however long you want, with no knowledge of time or pace to influence you.
• Run without a watch.
Running is healthy, challenging and fun. It is not another test in your adult life. Be a kid again — enjoy playing and the sheer joy in the act of
